Information / Knowledge Manager - Cyber Vulnerability Investigation (CVI) - DV Cleared 

Defence needs to understand the vulnerabilities in its system and platforms that an adversary might exploit in a cyber-attack. To support this, Defence is conducting Cyber Vulnerability Investigations (CVIs) in all of Defence’s systems, platforms and capability. 

Over the past 3 years a vast quantity of information and data has been produced to facilitate a number of CVIs.  This information needs to be transferred in order for Defence to store and exploit it in an effective manner. Ongoing CVIs will be required to search and retrieve existing data, the requests for which must be actioned and completed on urgent timescales.

Defence is currently procuring a number of tools that will facilitate the storage, exploitation and dissemination of CVI data . The Information Manager will be required to inform the design and delivery of these tools utilising industry best practice and by quickly understanding both the CVI process and the information requirements of the team.

Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience in IKM.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Good technical understanding of information exploitation tools.
  • Knowledge of analysis tools including i2 analysts notebook or similar software.
  • Previous experience of business transition including the movement of large quantities of data.
  • Experienced in manipulating data for analytical / statistical purposes.
  • Knowledge of utilising big data solutions to provide business benefit.

Key Tasks and Deliverables

Activities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Conduct data gathering for all historical CVI reports, constituent parts and evidential data gathered over the course of completed CVIs.
  • Develop and instigate a CVI information repository, to include specifications for data tagging, in order to migrate existing data and utilise in the course of future CVIs.
  • Inform the requirements capture taking place for the CVI Management tool.
  • Collate, visualise and analyse data records to assist the conduct of CVIs and also to investigate trending or cascading/aggregated risks.
  • Act as Defence authority for accepting industry provided data into the CVI Cell. Manage and enforce nomenclature to allow integration of MOD / Industry produced data and reports. 
  • Act as SME on the use and exploitation of the CVI Mgt Tool, when in service.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer of the CVI methodology with permanent members of the CVI Ops Cell as Military/CS roles are filled.
