Project Manager (9-12 month FTC Maternity cover)
We are seeking a Project Manager to assist and lead on the delivery of residential development projects within our Technical Services Partnership, to within budget and to specification, on behalf of North Tyneside Council. This will be achieved through ensuring appropriate project management skills communication through the day-to-day administration and co-ordination of Projects and Programmes. This will be a varied and challenging role working with many disciplines and processes for the development of the project. The role will be both client and outward facing, and will sit within the Housing Growth Team in North Tyneside Council.
We are seeking a motivated individual who will be responsible for the delivery of the design and construction of small scale residential development projects on behalf of North Tyneside Council. Working with a design team to deliver detailed design, tendering the project for construction and managing the construction of projects on site.
This role will be based in our offices in North Tyneside. However, travelling may be required to other Capita offices or Client offices.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Lead on the successful planning and delivery of projects
Effectively manage project workload planning and be proactive in taking appropriate action to ensure resources are balanced with workload requirements
Work co-operatively and proactively with colleagues and delivery teams to ensure the technical deliverable objectives of the project are achieved.
Ensure project performance across all projects
Manage project Clients on a day to day basis
Manage project design and/or construction teams on a day to day basis
Manage project resources to achieve the Client's Brief
Produce and adhere to the project plan ( including the requirement for project reviews)
Report and manage progress to the Project Director and Client as appropriate
Manage Project Finances in accordance with established Capita MOB processes (including project forecasting, invoicing, accruals, WIP reporting, fee splits, resource plans, work share agreements, and subcontract agreements)
Ensure income is maximised by effective change control management
Ensure Client feedback is obtained in accordance with agreed local procedures and appropriate lessons learnt/improvements are made (or best practice cascaded to the local business and the wider Capita Property and Infrastructure businesses)
Work with the Client and Project Director to sell new services
Make sure project files are complete and up to date
Escalate internal issues that cannot be resolved locally
Minimise project costs (e.g. by having a continual improvement plan, ensure resources are utilised effectively,minimum use of external subcontractors, control of project overhead)
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of below:
Experience in delivering residential development projects - both affordable and for private sale
Knowledge and experience of the various disciplines that contribute to the successful delivery of residential development projects.
Degree qualified in a Project Management or Construction/Technical related discipline.
Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of Project Management
Knowledge and experience of using Project Management techniques and tools
Planning and organising, critical thinking and problem solving skills and decision making ability
Be proficient in a wide range of IT skills including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
Excellent oral and written communicator
Self-motivated with a positive "can do" attitude.
Highly organised and excellent communicator.
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with Clients and deliver quality services to maximise opportunities for repeat business.
Hold a full UK driving licence

Ability to negotiate and communicate
Ability to act assertively and handle confrontational situations
Ability to make decisions and work without close supervision

27-37.5 hours a week (Part time applicants considered)
Annual leave - to be negotiated
