Planning Manager (Engineering) - Barrow
A successful FTSE 100 engineering support services organisation is looking to take on a Planning Manager to work within the Integrated Programme Management Team (IPMT) based in Barrow.
The primary purpose of the role is to manage the interfaces on the Dreadnought programme to give an accurate assessment of programme performance and ability to deliver to time and cost.
Based in Barrow, you will proactively drive the planning forward. You will liaise with production managers, designer engineers and other members within the alliance in order to understand the programme of work and identify if there are any delays to the schedule. As the programme is moving into the manufacturing phase, it is important to assess the risks involved if the delivery schedule is not adhered to for example, and feed these impacts into the wider senior team.
The successful candidate will have line management responsibilities and pastoral care to a team of 4 and be supported by the Dependency engineer.

'Successor' is the name of the programme that will deliver a new generation of submarines that will carry the UK's nuclear deterrent. It is the largest UK Defence programme to date, with a projected spend of £18 billion for the design and build phases alone. As the Successor programme moves from the design to build phase, a Planning Manager is needed as an Industrial Participant within the multi-group programme.

Engineering Background; will consider a range of backgrounds but must be within the engineering discipline, will accept oil and gas experience
Strong Project Management; ideally APMP or equivalent. Experience will be considered, must be prepared to gain qualification once in post.
Planning experience; practical experience of the planning, scheduling and execution of a major support programme for a complex asset. Knowledge of P6, how to use the tool and interpret data.
Line Management; proven experience of managing small teams
Submarine Knowledge Desirable; a good overall understanding of how a submarine is constructed
IT literate; be proficient in MS Office, experienced in P6
Excellent communication skills; able to build relationships with internal employees and external customers
Salary: £40,545 - £45,510
Hours: 37 hours a week
Location: Barrow, Cumbria (relocation assistance is available on a case by case basis)
Travel: occasional UK travel as and when required
Security: SC + ITAR regulations apply
