Job Description:

The Security administrator shall use a series of automated auditing tools (Splunk software and associated reports) also augmented with manual processes to insure that auditing occurs to guarantee compliancy with the accredited systems. Windows' audit policy determines the type of information found in the Security log. Each Windows system has nine audit policies that can be enabled or disabled:

  • Audit account logon events
  • Audit account management
  • Audit directory service access
  • Audit logon events
  • Audit object access
  • Audit policy change
  • Audit privilege use
  • Audit process tracking
  • Audit system events
  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.


  • Knowledge/experience of Splunk, security administration and Windows auditing.
    Correlation of security events to identify root cause and perform corrective action
    Prior System administration experience

  • Certified in Security+
  • Demonstrated system administration skills, to include:
    • Engineering skills required for maintaining Enterprise Server Racks
    • Strong Working knowledge of SSL/VPN security architecture with integration into multi-layered Firewall architecture)Backups of Physical servers (Windows 2013 OS), Hyper-V virtual machines
    • Disaster recovery/restores
    • Hardware/System Monitoring of physical and virtual servers
      System Maintenance - scheduled upgrades/maintenance, startup and shutdown of rack components
    • Software Maintenance - applying OS updates, antivirus/antispyware updates, and patch updates
    • User Account Maintenance (Active Directory)

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to create presentation material for Base Leadership (e.g. Officers and management)
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications
  • COTS/developed software skills
  • Software Engineering background and experience
