Procurement Operations Manager

Responsible for ensuring delivery of Procurement Operations across Major Projects within the business. The scope of this responsibility includes a diverse range of procurement and management activities to include planning and executing contracts and forecasting and managing budgets and associated spend.
This position also requires balanced solutions to meet Project performance requirements while controlling costs and schedule of all project related Purchase Orders and Contracts.
Responsibilities include management of processes in line with established company policies and procedures; working in multifunctional teams to conduct demand planning, to identify operational requirements, and to develop procurement strategies; coordinating work activities with other groups within the Project and manage and exceed internal/external stakeholder expectations
Travel to Supplier premises may be required to support the above activities
Key Activities / Decision Areas
Support the development and implementation of a companywide purchasing strategy
Build and maintain strong working relationships to gain buy- in and engagement with the key stakeholders
Lead and mentor Project Procurement team members
Challenge, enhance and standardise existing procurement practices across all business units to ensure conformity of approach, generate economies of scale and deliver better value for money
Build superior supplier relationship management capability within the team and through continuous business improvement
Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and support in the source of new suppliers as required in partnership with Business Winning Procurement Manager and Supplier Management
Support in the implementation of ERP ensuring data integrity and continued support to the business
Manage Project Procurement spend and budget ensuring all project forecasting is accurate and identify/mitigate risks and exploit opportunities
Realise and deliver cost savings, together with a range of additional benefits including improved supplier performance, improved quality of service and total cost of performance along with risk management
Work collaboratively with finance on departmental and wider organisational forecasts, where Procurement has an impact
Manage the procurement governance process across the business ensuring policy compliance
Manage/resolve SLA breaches of contract to provide a positive outcome to the business
Strategic & Technical
* Professionally recognised purchasing qualification (MCIPS)
* Credibility at a senior level
* Background in procurement strategy
* Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to lead key negotiations at a senior level
* Experience of delivering cost efficiencies with third party suppliers
* Extensive experience managing complex supplier and organisational relationships
* A track record of delivering change
* International experience in procurement desirable
* A strong leader, able to inspire and motivate a team,
* Ability to build informal authority and influence key decision makers
* Confidence to manage budgets and undertake financial forecasting
* Excellent communication, presentational and interpersonal skills
* Meticulous attention to detail
* Self motivated and proactive, enjoy working under pressure
* Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity and an appetite to address the toughest commercial challenges
