Role overview On-site support engineer, comprising a mix of COTS and bespoke software applications along with COTS-based client/server networked operating infrastructure.  Installations range between permanent HQ sites and warships to rugged, field-deployable command posts with secure messaging and connectivity via satellite link.   Day to Day Responsibilities The JOCS Support Engineer will be responsible to the CSIS Support Manager for the following in consultation with EDS Support Manager. The support engineer is part of a team providing system management to a new Military System on the customer site. Leading with the day-to-day maintenance of JOCS systems at both Hook and deployed sites. Leading with network and system management, and messaging support. Provide consultation on problem resolution, and take responsibility for Proactive Problem finding and resolution. Fault fixing and fault progression as per system design and build documentation. Implementation of authorised system changes in support of international interoperability. From time-to-time, as required, any additional work needed to support JOCS International interoperability.  Essential Skills Customer Facing Skills X400 SMTP UNIX Windows 2003 / 2008 / NT   Desirable Skills Messaging in a Military environment Network Management Experience of managing Backups Knowledge of SharePoint MS Exchange 2003 / 2010 Knowledge of hardware platforms    Personal Competencies Strong interpersonal skills Strong communication and meeting skills Good analytical skills Good problem solving technique Methodical approach, pragmatic Ability to challenge via structured interaction
