About the role

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for seeing various different projects through from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality.You will have the confidence to operate across multiple streams and have experience in Transformation projects.

You will have the skills to manage a variety of tasks and be able to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Since March 2012, Capita has been working with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in a partnering arrangement with the armed forces to deliver recruitment services for the Army. The project represents a major investment in the transformation for military recruiting.

The contract covers the entire recruiting and selection process for both the Regular Army and the TA, and is helping transform the way the Army recruits its officers and soldiers.

What you will do:

  • To manage and control implementation projects delivering to a high quality in accordance with the agreed plan

  • Produce and maintain project management control documentation required for the effective initiation, delivery and closure of each project, ensuring compliance with the RPP Project Management Framework and utilising PRINCE2 Project Management tools, where appropriate

  • Ensure that all Work Stream responsibilities are clearly communicated to and agreed by all parties

  • Co-ordinate the delivery of the project by ensuring all Work Streams have taken the appropriate action to complete the tasks efficiently within specified time scales at an agreed cost and an agreed level of quality

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope using the agreed RPP Change Control Process

  • Provide regular reports and any other relevant project information, detailing progress against the agreed plan, highlighting any potential or real issues to the RPP PMO and project Stakeholders affected by or involved in the project, to ensure that projects are completed efficiently within specified time scales as defined in departmental standards

Your experience will include:

  • End to end experience of the project lifecycle. Able to describe the key elements of projects including initiation, governance, control and closure and abiliy to provide examples of active participation in all of these stages
  • Understand the use of Gantt charts, critical path analysis and project burn rate
  • Understand the role of Heat mapping for stakeholder management and the different types of stakeholders
  • Understand the elements of a RAID log, the significance of probability and impact for risks and how risks differ from issues
  • Understand the importance of a project budget, how to measure burn rate and why % complete is an ineffective metric
  • Experience in Transformation projects desirable, but not essential
