To support the Head of Waste by managing the Waste Service Management function.

  • Accountable for the definition, development, improvement, configuration, capability, performance, interfaces and supporting documentation associated with waste processes (including RA, Controlled and Aqueous)
  • Accountable for the Change Management Process to ensure that risks associated with change to waste arrangements are suitably managed
  • Accountable for the provision of the Waste Service Desk function to provide a single point of contact for the assignment and escalation of waste management services
  • Accountable for Continuity Management, ensuring arrangements are in place to manage the loss of one or more key areas of Service Management
  • Management of the Waste Processes Change Process, including secretary to change control meetings, authorisation of changes of the lowest category and completion of physical changes to process maps and associated documentation
  • Ensure that evidence is provided to demonstrate performance of Services against internal targets and Company requirements including the production of the monthly Service Delivery Report
  • Provide an interface between customers, Waste Routes and Waste Specialists providing challenge, facilitation and mediation when required
  • Provide professional and practical advice and innovation on process improvements in line with industry best practice
  • Lead process improvement activities which provide benefit to AWE
  • Maintain a call-log ability which can be interrogated to identify performance metrics and other pertinent data
  • Task management of service desk staff
  • Maintain the Service Management Compliance Matrix
  • Maintain the Waste Services Document Schedule
  • As part of the management team for Waste Services, participate in relevant management activities including team meetings and briefings, inputting into the staff performance appraisal process and other activities within the scope of the role which support the delivery of Waste Services

  • BS EN ISO 9000 Series, BS EN ISO 14001 Series
  • Knowledge of UK Environmental, Health and Safety Legislation & Nuclear Site Licence Conditions including detailed knowledge of legislation pertinent to waste
  • High level of IT literacy particularly with regard to Microsoft Excel and Visio
  • Sufficient experience in order to demonstrate good awareness of Waste Industry practices external to AWE (including Controlled, RA and Aqueous Wastes)
  • Able to analyse multiple sources of data and determine solutions and improvements and produce high quality reports
  • Must be articulate and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of leading improvement activities/driving change
  • Experience in Service Delivery
  • Experience of managing a team (preferable)
  • NVQ L4 and/or Degree in Environmental, Waste, Service Management or other relevant discipline
  • Suitable period of post qualification operational experience including demonstrable commitment and evidence of continuing professional development with a recognised and relevant professional body

  • Willing and able to visit RA designated areas
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role
