About the role

The role of Recruiting Group (RG) is to recruit officers and soldiers for the Army (Regular and Reserve), meeting targets for quantity, quality and candidate experience. The Regions conduct a range of recruiting activities designed to attract candidates into the recruiting process and then nurture and support them through it.

As a Careers Advisor, you will engage with prospective candidates, provide support and guidance throughout the attraction and recruitment process to ensure each candidate is fully prepared to successfully join the Army in their chosen career.

Capita Recruiting Partnering Project (RPP) is part of Capita plc, the UK's leading provider of business process management and integrated professional support service solutions, with 68,000 staff across the UK, Europe, South Africa and India.

Since March 2012, Capita has been working with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in a partnering arrangement with the armed forces to deliver recruitment services for the Army. The project represents a major investment in the transformation for military recruiting.

The contract covers the entire recruiting and selection process for both the Regular Army and the TA, and is helping transform the way the Army recruits its officers and soldiers.

What you will do:

  • Work as part of the team handling visitor enquiries and providing appropriate advice, guidance and signposting for prospective candidates and interested parties. This could be within the Army Careers Centre, at a mobile site or attraction event

  • Conduct Army Briefing sessions (Individual & Groups) ensuring all candidate queries are addressed and the next steps of the recruitment process are fully understood

  • Conduct individual candidate discussions determining eligibility and suitability in accordance with RG policy

  • Engage with external stakeholders, gatekeepers and other agencies including the delivery of curriculum support and careers briefings within educational establishments

  • Identify areas for development and create detailed individual candidate plans

  • Responsible for overall candidate ownership and ensuring individuals progress through the recruitment process and ensuring proactive engagement with local educational establishments promoting Army Careers through the delivery of careers presentations, educational activities and supporting Outreach activities as appropriate.

    Your experience will include:

  • A background in Agency Recruitment highly desirable or previous experience in a recruitment role
  • Working knowledge of the regular and reservist, Officer and soldier selection and training processes and career opportunities desirable
  • And/or knowledge of the Army's organisation, roles, rank structure and careers opportunities
  • Passion for the British Army and the careers it offer
  • Previous management experience
  • IT literate, motivated with excellent leadership skills
