To support the business in providing a high quality computing environment by providing and managing the provision of System Security Administration expertise to the AWE User community
Key Accountabilities
- To support the Technical Service Manager(s) and Team Leader in maintaining the operational status and maximising availability of assets to programme demanders
- Resolution of significant issues
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a resilient, cost effective, highly available, secure infrastructure to the business on top of which secure hosted services can be deployed, managed and maintained
- Contributes to the development of Computer, Network and Storage Security Architecture, incorporating hosting, infrastructure applications
- Manage the provisioning of security administration tools to enforce secure practices in providing Server environments to AWE
- Be responsible for diagnosing and following through to resolution any security related issues, escalating to team members or other teams and vendors when required
- Build relationships with other teams within IT Operations to enable better support and communications
- To maintain technical skills to allow us to benefit from new and emerging technologies in order to make supportive decisions
- To provide weekly reports to the team leader
- Attend technical briefing/support groups
- Develop the right culture and encourage continuous improvement
- Support other members of AWE Community in delivering for AWE
- Responsible for undertaking other duties as reasonably required from time to time by line and task management
Skills
- System Administration of Microsoft Technologies
- Knowledge of CyberArk Security Systems preferred
- Awareness of additional technology areas such as Virtualisation and converged infrastructure
- Broad knowledge of IT and Information related principles, standards, and requirements when operating within MoD and UK legislative environments
- Working knowledge of ITIL framework
- Technical investigation and problem solving skills
- Highly proficient computing skills
- Good communicator (written and oral) with sound facilitation skills that can be related to colleagues of all levels
- Ability to operate under pressure and influence decisions
- Able to provide comprehensive reports for operations
- Able to write and update technical documentation
Experience
- Experience in vulnerability management, incident management or security monitoring
- Market awareness of security products and common security technologies, preferably in a highly secure environment
- Suitable experience in delivering effective IT system Administration or support in a modern IT environment
- Significant experience in a proactive IT Operational role in a large commercial company (Preferred)
- SANS Institute security certifications or equivalent
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent (Preferred)
- Vendor certification for leading security applications (Preferred)
- Willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role
- Willing and able to work evenings and weekends where exceptional circumstances require it
