An excellent opportunity for an Apprentice to start their career in a large company with excellent prospects for progression. The purpose of this role is to provide technical and administrative support to a group of Project Engineers and Technicians working on a variety of Projects. The role will involve working with a range of internal and external people in the Asset Management Team of the Engineering Services area.This role will be based in our offices in North Tyneside. However, travelling may be required to other Capita offices or Client offices. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for drafting and coordinating responses to all Highway Maintenance related queries via telephone, email and on the Members Enquiry System
  • Assist in the production of plans, documents and reports including the use of computer systems
  • Responsibility for applying and monitoring the permit system for working on the adopted Highway
  • Assist, as necessary, other team members
  • Support the Highways Maintenance Team.

In addition, the successful candidate will provide general business administration support where needed which may include:

  • Inputting of key operational data into databases
  • General administrative support including typing, filing and scanning
  • Answering the telephone
  • Taking meeting notes and chasing actions

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Good communication skills (verbal, written and face to face)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail skills and dedication to quality outputs
  • Worked as part of a team as well as on your own successfully
  • Proficent writing skills
  • Competent IT Skills

The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualities:

  • Ability in Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Previous experience in a customer focussed role
  • Previous experience of working with elected members, general public, council officers and other external stakeholders

Renumeration Package:

  • 37.5 hours a week
  • Annual leave - 23 days
