I have a unique opportunity for a NOC Engineer to work in the Midlands, Birmingham, and Coventry area.

You will have access to some of the most advanced WAN and LAN technologies currently being used by Tier1 Network Carriers (Virgin, SSE, TalkTalk, Vodafone) a 100% privately owned organisation that provide you direct access to management and your ideas will be taken in consideration , giving you the opportunity to help the development and success of the company.

My client provide Networking and Telecommunications solutions and has been focusing and working towards the rapidly growing IP and network requirements of national and international business organisations , primarily concentrating on the design of scalable and integrated network access solutions across the WAN.


The NOC Engineer will be involved providing support for the operation team and helping to maintain a smooth operation of the customers LAN and WAN platforms . Additionally you will provide technical expertise and you will act as the escalation point for the 1ST and 2ND line NOC, implementing complex modifications and working alongside with 3rd party vendor TAC.

As a NOC Engineer you will provide technical support to help diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues relating to switching, routing, security, Wireless and other various network-related issues (DDoS Attacks, power outages, network failures, and routing black-holes)

Responsibilities

Providing 3rd level support within the NOC supporting the LAN / WAN managed services
Creating and maintain computerized data articles to reduce escalations from 1st / 2nd line teams.
Fixing network outages, misconfigurations, and complex networking issues on customers' devices.
Delivering training for 1st / 2nd line staff to increase technical skillset within the NOC.
Being proactive and monitoring customer networks via internal monitoring system, investigating troubleshooting and resolving issues.
Perform Out of Hours (OOH) consultancy/engineering implementation work as and when required
Taking part in an on-call rota for 3rd line out of hours support for the NOC

To be a good fit for this job, you must to have a current/valid CCNP accreditation.
You will have to show proven experience or Background in the following for this role:

Must have experience of working in a 2nd / 3rd line role providing technical network
Hands on experience of LAN / WAN technologies including: Cisco, HPE, Extreme / Enterasys and Huawei
Proven Experience of configuring / troubleshooting Firewall devices including: Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Palo Alto
Experience using Security Information Event Management (SIEM)

Knowledge of security protocols including: VPNs, IPSEC, AAA, SSL, TLS, SSH etc
Experience of working with Telecoms providers such as BT, Colt, Virgin-Media, and Vodafone Able to manage and prioritise team work streams and deliver to tight deadlines.

Proven experience of configuring / managing IPS/IDS would be advantageous
Experience of SIP, VOIP and voice technologies would be beneficial
Additional Security certifications such as: CISSP, CISM, HCNP, FCNSP/NSE-4 etc. desirable.
