G4S wins five-year contract to secure over 700 DWP properties

Published on: 2 Jan 2018

G4S will provide security for more than 700 British properties operated by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) after winning a new five-year contract.

The contract, which will be fulfilled by the Secure Solutions division of G4S, represents one of the largest integrated security contracts of its kind ever awarded in the UK.

G4S’s security technology will be combined with professionally trained G4S security officers across the DWP estate to provide what the Crawley-based security services company describes as ‘an innovative, cost-effective solution’.

The contract is set to commence from April 2018, running for five years initially with a potential two-year extension thereafter.

Doug Hewitson, managing director of G4S Secure Solutions, said: “Our innovative approach will reshape the current security provision to provide a safe and secure environment for DWP customers and staff.”

G4S Group CEO Ashley Almanza added that he was delighted that the DWP had selected it  to design and deliver such a large, technology-enabled security solution.

The DWP deal adds to a growing number of clients who are using G4S's integrated solutions, which combine the group’s manned security, security technology and integration capabilities.
