BAE Systems wins place on $3bn US Army contract

Published on: 26 Apr 2017

BAE Systems will play a part in developing next-generation technologies for the US Army’s space, high-altitude and missile defense after being included in a eight-year $3 billion contract.

The company is among a group of eight companies that will compete for future task orders under the contract as an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) awardee.

BAE Systems has a longstanding and successful relationship with the US Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command, providing specialised support in the research, development, integration, testing, demonstration and small-scale production of prototypes designed with, and for, the soldier.

DeEtte Gray, president of BAE Systems’ intelligence & security sector, commented: “We’re committed to helping the US Army develop the new technologies it needs to gain a greater tactical edge on the battlefield and accomplish a wide array of complex missions.”

The contract’s task orders call for the support of component testing, as well as the integration of prototypes into systems and subsystems that can be evaluated in a laboratory or relevant environment with limited operational system testing.

Finally, the contract is reflective of the US Army’s innovative “concept to combat” design approach, which expedites the rollout of important next-generation technologies.
