We have opportunities for three team leaders who will lead key areas as part of our Business Enabling Services (BES). We support our business to operate safely, securely and efficiently, providing a phenomenal experience for our customers across all our sites. 

As a team leader you will provide a balance of technical and professional leadership skills for your team, ensuring that capability is developed to meet current and future demands whilst delivering day to day work in a challenging environment. You will play a key part in supporting Dstl in delivering world-class science & technology research through leadership of your support team. 

Who are we? 

Our vision as BES is to act in partnership with all parts of the business in providing high quality administrative support services. How? We need to achieve this in the most cost effective way using a well-defined service catalogue and more importantly through their diverse and inclusive community of team members. 

Where could you fit in? 

We have a number of Team Leader roles available across various areas. You’ll be responsible for a team of between 12 and 25 team members and be a part of a larger leadership team across the function. You will be a positive role model to lead and maintain the capability of one of these teams: 

1. Local Help Point Team Leader 
Dstl Level 5, Porton Down (Salisbury), £31,000 - £36,500 DOE
 

The Local Help Point Team Leader is responsible for delivering a standard Local Help Point service across the Porton down site, working with and developing relationships across the stakeholder community to ensure Business Enabling Services are meeting business needs. The Team Leader will be working closely with other Business Enabling Services Team Leaders to ensure flexible deployment of capability to deliver against priority business requirements. 

2. Records Management Centre Team Leader 
Dstl Level 5, Porton Down (Salisbury), £31,000 - £36,500 DOE
 

The Records Management Centre Team Leader is responsible for ensuring Dstl is compliant with the Public Records Act. You'll be leading a team which provides full life records management advice across the business for paper records and developing the electronic records management capability to meet the future business requirements. The team manage the Athena database of reports for future exploitation and provide a scanning solution across the business. 

3. Security & Resilience Team Leader 
Dstl Level 5/6, Porton Down (Salisbury) or Portsdown West (Fareham), £31,000 - £44,000 DOE
 

As one of two Team Leaders, you will be working closely with Dstl Principal Security Advisor and Dstl Head of Establishment to ensure flexible deployment of capability, delivering against priority business requirements and generating new capabilities to manage emerging risk requirements. Technical knowledge and experience of working in a security or resilience related role will be helpful however, the successful applicant will have a background developing talent, in individuals and teams, to achieve results with Enterprise wide impact. Team members are based across all Dstl sites; your enthusiasm for innovation and flexible approach will be valuable in leading our skilled, experienced and engaged but dispersed teams. 

As well as a background relevant to the area you will have: 

- An ability to quickly develop good working relationships with a variety of people 

- An ability to understand wider team and organisational objectives and interpret them for your team and area of responsibility. 

- Experience with performance management upskilling and developing your team members through effective mentoring, coaching and support. 

- Good networking skills 

- Tact and diplomacy in dealing with a wide range of issues/challenges within your team and beyond 

- You'll demonstrate persistence to see things through to a conclusion 

- Real passion for developing capability and people 

- The aptitude to lead through change 

- Able to communicate coherently and sensitively, explaining complex issues in a way that is easy to understand. 

- You'll have strong Emotional intelligence skills, and be able to understand your own and others reactions, motivations etc. 

- Able to handle conflicting priorities successfully delivering to changing requirements 

- Able to successfully handle multiple tasks at a time 

- The ability to work with colleagues to achieve a common goal
