About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Workshop Controller to supervise and co-ordinate Vehicle technicians, providing service and repair facilities to the MPS vehicle fleet. Ensuring that the service is delivered in a safe, cost effective and technically compliant manner to the standards required by various legal and safety requirements.
You will be responsible supervising the workshop and technicians to ensure labour and material consumption is optimised. Prioritising vehicles and maintenance ensuring completion in accordance with procedures in operation and to the standard and quality required. Ensuring warranty claims are identified for recovery from manufacturers and rechargeable damage is identified and authorised.
You will plan, schedule and progress work to ensure optimised use of labour and cost effective use of materials and equipment. Minimise downtime of vehicles maintained, observing and minimising penalties associated with vehicle availability. Manage staff, as required, dealing with personnel, discipline and industrial relations. Manage training and development needs to enable them to meet skills levels required to achieve individual goals and provide a cost efficient service. Ensure recharge repairs are approved where necessary and that repairs meet the requirements of the MPS Contract. Provide technical and diagnostic support to colleagues where required
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to hold a B/TEC, ONC, City & Guilds or equivalent in Motor Vehicle Engineering.
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
  • Good level of industry knowledge / awareness
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of diagnostic equipment.
  • Proven experience in a Motor Vehicle technician role, with experience gained as a fully qualified technician.
  • Experience of meeting demanding targets and deadlines
  • Full driving licence

We also provide vital training for new recruits and existing people to the fire service.
