Role Summary/Purpose:
    Reporting to the Technical Publications Manager, you will be accountable for the successful planning, implementation and delivery of assigned avionics technical publications programmes. The role will involve strong negotiation, communication and leadership skills to successfully interface with customers, stakeholders and team members. Subcontract liaison is a key part of the role in which you will regularly review project deliverables and monitor performance to achieve quality/delivery targets.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Project control of assigned technical publications programmes
  • Subcontract liaison, ensuring programmes are managed effectively
  • Create, maintain and monitor programme plans
  • Participate in bid meetings and programme reviews
  • Report issues and communicate programme status on a regular basis to applicable programme managers/stakeholders
  • Drive actions necessary to achieve on-time delivery
  • Resolve issues preventing delivery targets being met
  • Prioritise tasks in an environment where customer needs are not always forecast
  • Create quotes/estimates for new product & legacy programmes
  • Create data packs and statements of work (SOW) for outsourced work
  • Hold regular programme and quality reviews with outsource supplier management
  • Technical writing duties when necessary
  • Editing/quality check of outsource supplier deliverables as necessary
  • Publication Discrepancy Report (CDR) processing
  • Drive simplification activities to improve processes and reduce cost, seeking best practice solutions
  • Typical administrative activities within a technical publications dept.
  • Any other task that may reasonably be requested by the business
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • HNC/HND in an engineering discipline or demonstrated Technical Authoring experience in a Technical Publications dept.
  • Experienced in and able to apply the requirements of ATA100, ATA iSpec2200 and ASD STE Simplified English
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting technical drawings, test procedures, engineering modifications, bills of material and other typical aerospace engineering data
  • PC literate and proficient in the in the use of Adobe Acrobat X or DC and Microsoft Office programmes especially Word, Excel and Access. Use of Adobe FrameMaker would be advantageous
  • Experienced in cost and workload estimating
  • Experience of subcontract liaison/management
  • Experienced in planning and managing multiple programmes
  • Use of or understanding of specification S1000D or applicable knowledge of XML or SGML would be advantageous
