The Digital Project Manager’s role is to define and understand project requirements, to develop a plan and deliver it. They are accountable for the success or failure of the project.

They will have effective leadership skills as well as a passion for collaboration with colleagues in other disciplines and senior clients across large organisations.

The Digital Project Manager will have a good grasp of the User Centred Design (UCD), Agile and digital delivery methodologies, and know when to appropriately engage Creative team members for digital strategy, user research, user experience, business analysis, art direction, interaction and visual design, content strategy and copywriting, and technical development for both front end and middleware / back end.

Collaboration and subject matter expertise is critical, the ultimate goal is to work with other UX, Design and Build specialists to create digital experiences that inform, inspire and delight, regardless of channel or audience type. The Digital Project Manager combines knowledge of the UCD process with an understanding of the business and technical environments. They will be responsible for appropriately directing Creative team members, and linking up with technical partners, Business Analysts and client-side staff to deliver tangible results to time and to budget.

  • Manage the needs and expectations of the client whilst motivating and encouraging their team to delivering against the project plan.
  • Work collaboratively with strategy, UX consultants, visual design and technical development teams and manage UX and design work streams (including estimating resources, time and materials to define and complete their work).
  • Develop and manage the direction of the project, defining and managing scope, managing time and costs, quality, resource allocation and project planning as well as change control.
  • Effectively communicate to both internal and external project stakeholders where appropriate whilst also monitoring and reporting on issues and risks as projects progress.
  • Serve as a partner and subject matter expert to clients.
  • Carry out detailed Project planning of tasks, activities and timings.
  • Manage deliverables such as Conceptual User Interfaces CUI’s, sitemaps, wire-frames, usability reports & recommendations, and any other Creative output
  • Liaise with other BAE capabilities and/or work-streams on project work
  • Create project communications such as project status reports and risk registers.
  • Develop cost to complete forecasts and risk registers.
  • Manage and lead a team of UX consultants (BAE Systems and/or client) working across a number of work streams including strategy, business analysis, functional design, UX, visual design and front end development, and provide both direction and objectives setting/management.
  • Manage the Risks and Issues arising on the Project and communicate as necessary to the correct authority. Also manage the on-going management of these issues and risks to ensure they are resolved correctly to the client’s satisfaction without adding additional risk to the BAE delivery team from a commercial or contractual point of view.
  • Lead the client engagement for all areas of user experience activity setting clear goals, client expectations and manage the delivery to ensure it is progressive yet achievable within project, budgetary and technology constraints.
  • Demonstrate improvements and success through the work they deliver.
  • Lead client presentations on progress of project and contributes to account management, programme management and commercial development activities.
