The Data Consulting Practice in BAE Systems Applied Intelligence has opened a Data Strategist vacancy for a talented Data Consultant with strong data advisory experience.

The Role:

The Data Strategist will primarily focus on collaborating with our clients to define and deliver large transformations of their data capabilities. The ideal candidate will play a leading role in the early stages of such engagements:  

Our Data Strategists:

  • Operate as a key data SME across one or more clients.
  • Manage workloads across a team of data consultants.
  • Understand and respond to diverging client needs and aspirations.
  • Work closely with our Business Development community as pre-sales data SMEs.

Typical activities include working with client stakeholders to:

  • Map current levels of capability to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  • Define the future state in the form of Data Visions, Data Strategies and Roadmaps of Change across heterogeneous data landscapes.
  • Lead data-focused initiatives to successful outcomes such as technology implementations, organisational change and data capability improvements.
  • Become a trusted adviser to client stakeholders.

You:

The successful candidate will have worked in the data advisory space, ideally acquired in a consulting environment, and at least ten years’ experience in roles relating to data management, governance and exploitation. You will have an engaging approach to understanding client data-related needs and aspirations, and in defining strategic business and technology solutions.

In addition, the successful candidate will have solid experience across a number of:

  • Analysis of the current state of the client organisation's data capabilities, establishing strategic requirements and the case for change.
  • Shaping future plans in partnership with client stakeholders, resulting in outputs such as data strategies, maturity assessments and road maps.
  • Communication of complex topics to a diverse  audience and developing and managing relationships with senior stakeholders such as Chief Officers.
  • In-depth experience in 1 or 2 business verticals and a level of understanding / experience in other business verticals.
  • Providing guidance on best practice through the development of principles, policies, standards, governance frameworks and process definition, with a degree of knowledge of relevant data legislation.
  • Forming and leading teams to deliver long-term change in data capability.
  • Knowledge of data tools and technologies including analysis and vendor selection.
  • Data architecture across multiple data domains.
  • Achieving organisational change through activities such as data governance frameworks implementation, data target operating models, communication strategies or change readiness programmes.
  • Creation and implementation of data-driven processes and control procedures.
  • Experience in operating in a pre-sales capacity, including the definition of offerings and experience of the full lifecycle to take offers to market.
